[HANSON STORIES]

To See Beyond The Surface

Epilogue - As The Days Go By

The day Jason, Alice, and Sherri went back home to Colorado it was hard on Taylor, but Jason promised him he would see him again and they vowed to write weekly to each other, which they did. The months passed and Taylor was finally able to walk normally again working and recording with his brothers on their next album. Taylor and Sherri wrote to each other too becoming good friends. The media picked up on the story of Taylor's days of recovering from his accident and all the fans and most of the world now knew the story of how Jason Monroe saved his life on that terrible day by the cliff.
Taylor and his brothers were finally getting ready to go on tour again and planning to open with their first concert in their home state. The night was hectic with all the preparations with the sound checks and setting up of equipment and instruments. It was finally nearing the time that they were to go on stage. They heard the opening group playing their last song. Ike and Zac watched Taylor nervously pacing back and forth. The show was sold out.
"Tay calm down." Ike chuckled.
"I am just excited that's all." Taylor smiled at his brothers.
"Where is Mom and Dad?" Zac asked looking around the area.
"I think I saw them going into a room with Chris earlier. He wanted to talk to them about something." Ike said shrugging his shoulders.
"Hey guys! This is it! Your cue is coming up." One of the stage crew said to them.
They all smiled and got ready to run out onto the stage. Ike, Taylor, and Zac listened then heard the announcement and started running for the stage.
"Ladies and gentlemen?! HANSON!"

They ran onto the stage and started into their first song and immediately calmed down getting into their music as the crowd screamed with each song they sang. Taylor felt the music in his soul as his voice bounced through the air singing in harmony with his brothers. The concert lasted well over an hour when they were coming up on their last song. Sweat poured down their faces as they smiled at the crowd.
"You guys ROCK!" Taylor yelled into the mic smiling at all the shining faces. Suddenly he saw Ike staring to the left of him with a shocked expression covering his face. Taylor turned to see what he was looking at and his heart skipped a beat when he saw a huge man standing in the wings standing next to his smiling parents who planned this surprise well in advance for their sons. He blinked and saw Alice and Sherri standing in front of Jason. Taylor wanted to run to them but knew he couldn't because they had to sing the last song. He saw Alice hold up her left hand and pointing with her right at a ring. She mouthed the words 'married'. He saw Jason nodding his head. Taylor's eyes suddenly misted up with tears and he smiled from ear to ear nodding his head indicating to them he understood. He turned and signaled for Ike to come over to him. The crowd suddenly became quiet wondering what was going on.
"What Tay?" Ike asked in a whisper.
"Let's sing 'Weird'. I know it is a oldie but I want to sing it for Jason." Taylor stated with a pleading look on his face. Ike nodded totally understanding and smiling at Jason. He went to Zac and told him what song they were going to play next and Zac grinned in total approval. Zac turned around and said to the backup band 'Weird'. They nodded their heads understanding.
"This song goes out to a dear friend of mine. A special man who gave me back my life. Without him I wouldn't even be here tonight. This song I dedicate to him......'Weird'." Taylor rasped with his voice cracking with tears. He shook back his wet hair from his face and closed his eyes as Zac clicked his sticks together to start the song and the music filled up the stadium as Taylor sang the song with such passion as never before with tears flowing down his face.

"Isn't it weird. Isn't it strange.
Even though we're just two strangers on this runaway train.
We're both trying to find a place in the sun.
We've lived in the shadows, but doesn't everyone.
Isn't it strange how we all feel a little bit weird sometimes
Yeahhh ohh ohh
Isn't it hard. Standing in the rain.
Yeah .. on the verge of going crazy and your heart's in pain.
No one can hear but you're screaming so loud.
You feel like your all alone in a faceless crowd.
Isn't it strange how we get a little bit weird sometimes.
Ohhhh ohh
Sitting on the side. Waiting for a sign. Hoping that my luck
will change.
Reaching for a hand that'll understand, someone who
feels the same.
When you live in a cookie cutter world being different
is a sin.
So you don't stand out. And you don't fit in. Weird.
Ohhhh ohh
Sitting on the side. Waiting for a sign. Hoping that my
luck will change.
Ohhh ohhh
Reaching for a hand that'll understand, someone who
feels the same.
When you live in a cookie cutter world if you're different
you can't win.
So you don't stand out. And you don't fit in.
Ohh ohh
Isn't it strange how we all feel a little bit weird
Strange, how we all get a little bit.
Strange, how we all get a little bit weird sometimes.
Ohhhh just a little bit Weird sometimes."

When Taylor finished the crowd roared with screams and Taylor turned to look at Jason who was wiping the tears off his face. He suddenly bolted onto the stage as Taylor ran toward him. He reached his arms out as Jason swooped him off his feet into the air and he spun around in a circle as he hugged Taylor in his arms tightly. The crowd screamed even louder in approval as they recognized who the man was.
"I love you Jason!"
"I love you too Taylor!" Jason yelled joyously loving this boy as if he was his own son.
