Chapter 2

I got up feeling sleepy as I walked over and answered the door. It was Zac.
"Hey." He said.
"Hey," I said. "What happened I left a message."
"Well, Andrew was over. It was a 12 hour job," he said.
"Ok." I said.
"Are you free Saturday night?" he asked.
"Yeah." I said."
Can you came then?" he asked."sure." I said.
"Ok. I'll tell mom," he said. He gave me another hug. He stared a little bit until his mom called and wanted him home right away. I drove him. But when I got there Andrew was there. Zac said it would be ok, and I could go back home. I did. Thursday of the following week, the doorbell rang.
"Hello." I said. It was Tay. "Come in."
He did.
"It's Zac," he said.
"What's wrong?" I asked.
"Momma took him to the doctor and he won't tell her what exactly he found other than he's taken quite a few sleeping pills lately and no one knows why. Mom and dad think that maybe you gave them to him," he said.
"I didn't. I wouldn't give them to him unless they said so." I said.
"I know. Zac knows." he said.
"Well, ask your mom if she will let Zac come over to spend the night." I asked.
"I'll ask," he said. He then left. A few hours passed by till Walker showed up. I answered.
"It's me. Look.your a good babysitter and all. Andrew knows him." He said.
"I know him. He has fun." I said.
"I know but your too happy." he said.
"Mr. Hanson. I baby sat a fourteen year old boy. And he never once fell asleep with any help. Other than a glass of warm milk his mom asked me to give him. Zac can't sleep. I told him to lay there and rest. He never once fell asleep with help from me. Please let him stay one night." I said.
"That's why I came." he said. He moved and Zac was behind him.
"Hey." I said.
"Hey." He said. He walked in. Walker pulled me out.
"He still has a lot of the sleeping stuff in him. And he will probably sleep for a few days. He has enough clothes to stay three days if you need us, he knows where we are. But here's a list of numbers." he said.
He handed me the list.
"Ok." I said. I walked in and sat down.
"You want to talk?" I asked.
"No," he said.
"You wanna lay down?" I asked. He nodded. I fixed him a bed and he laid down and slept for a few hours. When he woke up, he looked at me.
"What time is it?" he asked.
"1:00." I replied.
"Where's your bathroom?" he asked.
"You know where it is." I said.
He got up and went to the bathroom. Then came back..he sat down.
"Can you help me?" he asked.
"With what?" I asked.
"My arm it hurts," he said. He handed me his right arm.
"Yeah," I said. I started rubbing his arm. It was sore.
"You've put quite a lot of srain on your arm." I said.
"I know," he said.
"You don't need to," I said.
"I'm sorry," he said, fixen to cry.
"No,don't cry." I said. I sat next to him.
"It's ok don't cry." I said. He stopped.
"Well, I need to get to bed. I'll see you in the morning," I said.
I laid him down.
"Good night," I said.
He turned over. I went to bed and about two hours passed by after I went to bed. He came in.
"Jennifer." He said. He woke-me up.
"What's the matter?" I asked.
"I don't like Andrew I want you to be my babysitter. But he keeps talking mom and dad out of it." he said. I sat up.
"Come here." I said. He did."
Sit down." I said. He did.
"Now will you please tell me what's wrong?" I asked.
"I don't like him." He said. He got a little closer.
"Now tell me." I said and he laid his head over.
"I wish you were my mom." He said.
"Why?" I asked.
"Because her and dad won't let me get between them anymore, like they used to," he said.
"Zac, your fourteen." I said.
"I know." He said.
"Zac, what's the matter?" I asked.
"I just want someone to hold me." He said.
I wrapped my arms around him.
"Like this?" I asked.
"Yes." He said. I held him for an hour or two. If I loosened the hug he would tell me not to.
"Jennifer, why are you acting like my mother?" He asked.
"Well, you look like you need a big hug or to be held." I said.
"Ok." he said.
I held him all threw the night til he was asleep. When he was asleep, I laid him down. He turned over and fell asleep, a lot deeper. I fixed breakfast and then woke-him up, he sat up.
"Come on." I said.
He got up. I took him to the kitchen and made sure he ate and not picked at his food. Then he walked to the living room. He then got some clothes, showered, and changed..
"Zac, did he ever hurt you?" I asked.
"Who Andrew?" he asked.
"Yes." I said. It was so silent, like a coin just laying on a table.
"Zac?" I asked.
"Will you hold me again?" he asked.
"Why?" I asked.
"Because...I like it," he said.
"Ok. Come here." I said.
He did and I held him close and tight. After three days he finally went home. And so did I. My Mom called and wanted me back. I went back and took two years.

March 23rd 2002.

Amanda was with me when I stepped off the plane. We went to my apartment.and got cozy. She was a new found friend. I still had his address, but gave her time to adjust, then went to see him, without her. I arrived at 6:45. Tay answered.
"Hi." I said.
"Oh my god....Jennifer," he said.
"Is Zac here?" I asked.
"Ya just missed him." He said.
I waited for a little bit then went back home. So when he got there I wasn't there. At 2:00 am that morning he arrived at my door. He knocked til I answered.
"Hello," I said.
"Hi," he said."
Zac, Boy." I said. He slowly looked up.
"Can I come in?" He asked.
"Sure." I said. He came in.
"Well, what's up?" I asked.
"I missed you ...you never came back," he said.
"I had to solve something and my mom got sick." I Said.
"Oh," he said. "You never wrote or called."
"I'm sorry. I didn't know you cared like that." I said.
"Well, I did," he said. I reached up to move his hair.
"No." He said, and pulled away. I backed up.
"Quite moving." I said. I got his hand to pull toward me.
"Your freezing." I said.
"I waited an hour before knocking."He said. I led him to the heater to get warm.
"Does your parents know your here?" I asked.
"No, they won't miss me either," he said.
"Why not?" I asked.
"The're to busy listening to everyone else too listen to me," he said.
I sat down. He still wouldn't move his hair.
"Zac, let me see your eyes. Both of them." I said.
"No." He said.
"Who hit you?" I asked.
"No one," he said.
"Then let me see." I said. He let me. It was a cut not a hit.
"What happened?" I asked.
"The knife slipped." He said.
"Zac." I said.
"Ok. Andrew did it." He said.
"You still have a babysitter?" I asked.
"Yes," he said.
I cleaned it up and everything, then walked to my room. He followed and I sat down.
"Can I sleep in here?" he asked.
"Zac." I said.
"I can sleep in the living room," he said.
I got up and helped him fix the bed, then went to bed, even though he still came back, he had woke me up crying. It was 4:04. I opened my eyes and listened.
"I just want her hold me like she did two years ago, but I'm afraid to ask. I don't want to go home," he said.
He sat on the floor beside the bed with nothing under or over him and it was getting cold.
"Zac." I said as he jumped and got up.
"I'm sorry," he said and went back to the living room. I got up and walked to the living room. He was laying down crying. I sat down.
"Come here." I said.
He got up and crawled across the bed and sat beside me.
"All ya had to do was ask." I said.
"I don't know how to ask," he said.
I pulled him closer and put him between my legs to hold him better. I held him tightlly. I laid back so my back was rested. I had been hit by a 2x4 about 6 months ago during a fight.with a robber and it hurt occasionally. I held him as tight as he wanted and as long as he wanted. As 6:00 approched he was still awake. Even when Amanda walked threw. They both noticed each other and I could feel him get all tense with fear.
"It's ok. It's Amanda. She's a friend." I said.
"Hi," she said.
"Hi." He said, shyly.
I had my head on top of his. He was just about asleep. He also had my hand and wasn't letting go anytime soon.
"You can go on. I'm off." I said.
She got ready. She walked threw loading the gun.
"No," he said. I pulled back hard.
"Aww." He said and.he started to cry.
"What's the matter?" I asked. He pulled up, holding his side.
"Aww." He keep saying.
I took hold of his shirt and pulled it up. There were two red marks on his side.
"Shhh.... I'm sorry." I said and hugged him.
"What happened?" I asked.
"Andrew." He said.
After she left he settled back down into my arms and this time stayed there. About 1:00, I asked to get up. I got up and went to the bathroom and then fixed us something. He went to the bathroom also. Afterwards we laid back down. He settled back into my arms again.
"Zac, what's the matter?" I asked.
"You mean why ain't I happy bouncey?" He asked.
"Yes." I said.
"Andrew....he hates me." He said.
I sat him up and took hold of his arms.
"Tell me what happened and what does he do. Your not clumsy." I practically yelled at him.
"I'm sorry," he said.
I realized what I did. He sat there and cried. I pulled him back.
"No," he said. I pulled him back again.
"It's ok. I'm sorry." I said. I rocked and he cried for an hour or so.
"Zac, what does Andrew do to you? When he watches you?" I asked.
"He hurts me. Like with the ropes he tied me down and if I moved they rubbed them against me." he said.
"He hurts you how ties you up and hits you? " I asked.
"He makes me do things I don't want to do." He said.
"He makes you do things you don't want done to you?" I asked. He nodded.
"Ok....and?" I questioned.
"He does stuff in the video's but real." He said.
"In the sex video's?" I asked. He nodded.
"Ok." I said.
"You ran away didn't you?" I asked. He nodded again.
"Why?" I asked.
"They were gonna send me there for three days. I don't want to go. I wanted to but I'm not 18," he said.
"Ok." I said.
"I don't want him to, but he does anyhow. I told him no, but he keep on. I asked him not to but he ignored me and I threated to tell mom. But he hurt me more then. I tried to get him to stop, but he wouldn't. I'm scared and I don't know what to do." He said, crying and then he just let it all out. I held him and conforted him.
"Did he ever use himself or other things?" I asked.
"Other stuff till six months ago." he said.
I rocked a little. Then sat him up.
"Did you ever tell your parents or anyone besides me?" I asked.
"No, I was afraid to. He drugged me two years ago. Because I got to where I wouldn't let him. So he started drugging me." He said.
"And he's done this for four years?" I asked. My voice raising a hair. He nodded.
"Why didn't you tell me two years ago?" I asked with my voice going up.
"I tried but I just couldn't get it out. I tried. Believe me....I tried." He said.
"Well, you should have." I said.
"But..." He said.
"You should have told me then you would be ok." I said.
"Your scaring me." he said, with the little whimper before you start crying. He looked up. All I saw was a scared little boy, who didn't know who to go to or what to do. I gently held the side of his head.
"Zac, listen to me." I said.
"He always screamed at me," he said, shaking. I pulled him close.
"Ssh. I'm sorry." I said. He just cried.
"You do need to tell the police." I said.
"No!" He said and jumped back quick."
