Into The Light

Chapter 4

I sat in my room, looking at one of the books that I had bought at Barnes and Noble. I read furiously, flipping through the pages until I found exactly what I was looking for. I had to do it tonight. I had to talk to her no matter what. She had to know that we wanted her back and I certainly wasn’t going to stand for him taking her away like that. I sat down on my bed and leaned back so that I had my head resting against the wall.
“Man, dinner is ready.” My mom said as she came into my room.
“Not now.” I said, not even looking up from my book.
“MANDA!” She said angrily.
“Mom, this is important. I can’t right now. Later.” I answered as I finally glanced up from one of the passages.
“Well, just make sure you do.” She said and sighed. She closed my door and left my room. I flipped a page and continued reading.
“You must concentrate on either a certain place or person to travel through your dreams…”
I could do that. I’ve meditated before. This wouldn’t be that hard. I put the book down on the floor and leaned back, taking in some deep breaths. I attempted to clear my mind of any negative thoughts even though it was extremely hard considering the situation. I got into my normal meditating position and took some more deep breaths.
“Okay…calm Manda, calm…” I said to myself.
“Ohmm…ohmm…” I began chanting to get into my relaxed frame of mind.

“MAN!”
“WHAT!” I yelled angrily as my eyes flew open and I could see that my little brother was standing in my doorway.
“What are you doing?” He asked as he made his way in.
“NONE OF YOUR DAMN BUISNESS!” I yelled as I grabbed my pillow and threw it at him.
“Oh come on…” He said and began to whine.
“GET OUT!” I screamed.
“Just tell me what you’re doing?” He smiled wickedly.
“NO! GET OUT!” I screamed again.
“MAKE ME!” He yelled. I couldn’t handle the distraction any longer. I jumped off my bed and ran at him, full speed. I tackled him and put him in a headlock.
“OWW!” he yelled.
“NOW LEAVE ME ALONE!” I yelled as I let him go and pushed him out of my door.
“Your no fun…” With one quick move, I slammed the door in his face. I locked it and walked back over to my bed where I made myself comfortable again.
“Okay…here we go again.” I said as I took my meditating position again.
“Ohmm…ohmm…’

I looked all around and everything was black for the exception of a small light in the distance. I began to walk towards the light when I could see a building start to come into focus.
“What the heck…” I began to say, as the building seemed to move towards me. I felt almost dizzy as everything whizzed by me. Suddenly the light became so brilliant that it hurt me eyes to look.
“Where the hell am I?” I asked to no one. The building finally stopped and I could see what looked like an apartment. I walked over to it cautiously and peered in through a window that was closest to me. I gasped when I could see a person sitting in a small room in front of a computer. It was a girl with short black hair. I didn’t recognize her. I stopped suddenly when I looked closer and could see a braid going down her back. It reminded me of something but I couldn’t figure out what. The figure turned and looked at me. Green eyes stared at me. I caught my breath in my throat as I looked at the eyes. Suddenly, the girl got up. In the blink of an eye, she shifted into Phyllis. In one second, I was no longer outside the building but inside, looking at her face to face.
“Phyl.” I gasped. She looked at me with saddened eyes. Her hair was now its normal dirty blonde that came to her shoulders and she had her glasses on.
“I’ve been looking all over for you…” I began.
“Manda, we can’t do this. I can’t talk to you…” She said, looking like she was going to cry.
“But…Phyl…why did you leave? You have to tell me!” I demanded.
“I…I can’t tell you that.” She said and looked at the floor.
“I think you should leave my dream.” She added.
“DAMN IT! TELL ME!” I screamed. I could here the sound coming from my throat come in waves. I could actually see it. It was so unreal.
“Man…I…I…” She stammered.
“DO YOU LOVE HIM!” I yelled and grabbed her by the shoulders, slightly shaking her.
“YES!” She yelled and looked at my face.
“I do. I love him.” She said and began to cry.
“No…no…” I said and began to back away. I couldn’t believe this was happening. She couldn’t love him. She just couldn’t…
“Man, you have to understand…I don’t fit with you guys anymore. I’m not like you…”
“What does that have to do with anything?” I said angrily.
“Man…I’m apart of him. You have to understand. I can’t come back. It just won’t work…” She said as she let the tears spill down her face.
“I’LL KILL HIM!” I screamed, allowing the waves of sound to surround me.
“You can’t!” She said desperately.
“Please Man, please…” She pleaded.
“He can’t just take you away…” I began.
“I’m apart of him…” she said. I stopped suddenly when I could feel a sensation take over my body. She shifted back into the other form again and began to fade away.
“I’m apart of him…” I could here her whisper in the air. Everything began to fade into black.
“NOOO!” I screamed.

I could feel myself snap back into reality. I looked around my room frantically to see that I was still alive. I didn’t understand. She was apart of him? What did it mean? She couldn’t…she couldn’t…

I got out of my bed and picked up the astral projection book up off the floor. I looked at the cover in my hands. I could feel myself start to well up and I finally let the tears flow down my cheeks. This was ridiculous. I just didn’t understand why she didn’t want to talk to me. I threw the book into my closet and grabbed my sweatshirt off from the floor and put it on over my head. I headed to the door and went downstairs to get my late dinner.
