Fate's Child

Chapter 10

I built up my energy with help from Taylor and Amanda. Leviathan looked upon me with fear as I rose higher and higher in the air, getting ready to take aim at him.
“NO!” He screamed and blasted at me again, letting any bit of energy flow out of him. I absorbed every blast that was thrown.
“Give up.” I ordered.
“NO! I WILL NOT! THIS CANNOT HAPPEN!” He screamed, putting his hands to the sides of his head in a look of pain. Without warning, a tumultuous sound rang out. I turned fast and could see the chains surrounding Taylor’s throat, hands and legs had broke apart, allowing him to finally be free. I turned back only to get hit in the left side by a blast. Remarkably, I felt little pain and had absorbed most of the power. I gritted my teeth and lifted my hand toward him.
“This is going to end now!” I said angrily as the light coming from my eyes intensified.
“You’ve hurt everyone that I care about and I won’t let you get away with it!” I added as I began to devour the energy my friend and love provided. I closed my eyes, taking it all in as I concentrated on uniting the energy into one shot. I formed it into a sphere in the palms of my hands and opened my eyes. I looked down at Leviathan whose eyes were wide. With one swift move, the energy blasted from my hands, lighting everything up all around.

It hit him directly in the chest sending him to go flying to the ground. I suddenly felt all the energy drain from me and I dropped to the ground in a heap. I closed my eyes, trying to regain myself when I felt two strong but gentle hands pick me up. I looked up and could see Taylor standing there, his face close to mine as he held me in his arms. I wrapped my arms around his neck and he kissed me on the cheek sweetly.
“Are you all right?” He whispered in my ear.
“Yes.” I nodded. I looked over towards the heap that was now Leviathan. He wasn’t dead but soon was going to depart from this world.
“Let me down.” I whispered as I looked deeply into Taylor’s eyes. He nodded and gently put me down. I walked slowly up to where Leviathan’s body lay. I stood over him, taking in a shallow breath.

Instead of the monster that I so triumphantly defeated in battle, there lay a mere mortal. His face was contorted in a look of sadness. He looked up at me with his mouth quivering.
“I’m so sorry…” He said with the few bits of energy he had left.
“It’s not your fault. It was the Leviathan’s soul that made you do this. You were very innocent.” I said to the very scared man lying before me.
“Please…I beg of you…you must kill me…I’m the only portal he has left to be reborn…” He rasped as he looked up at me. I glanced at Taylor and my friends and kneeled down on the floor.
This man truly was not Leviathan. I could feel it deep within myself. I took his hand gently in mine and rubbed his forehead with my free hand.
“Sleep…” I said gently. He closed his eyes tight.
“Sleep…sleep…”
